Summary:
The Human Resources Specialist provides excellent customer service to employees, management, and the public. As a resource to management, this position is responsible for providing guidance on policy/procedures, and performance management provides reports ensuring accuracy and promptness. The HR Specialist provides support to all areas of human resources, including projects or activities related to employee engagement, and employee relations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Respond and assist employees and management inquires as needed
- Provides guidance to management on HR policy/procedures and assists in educating management on changes that occur
- Manages unemployment reporting and appeal process
- Perform employee relations functions including support and counseling regarding personnel and job-related conflicts, problem solving and dispute resolution, managing employee performance issues, review, and assessment of termination requests
- Employee orientation, development, and training
- Conduct employee related investigations as necessary
- Conduct exit interviews
- Handle workers compensation, first report of injury database and safety regulations process
- Conduct employee and supervisor training including benefits, policies and procedures and prevention of harassment and discrimination
- Maintain employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Recruit and staff from internal and external sources
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must have 5 years or more experience in the HR field.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
- Exceptional organization and time-management skills
- Experience in managing confidential information and maintaining discretion.
- Advanced skills using Adobe and Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams)
- Exceptional multitasking abilities, with strong attention to details
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work independently, team player, take initiative, set priorities, and anticipate needs.
- PHR preferred
- Solid knowledge of employment laws and regulations governing HR programs
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (i.e., Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated high-level of confidentiality and discretion
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships, professional demeanor, and attitude
- Time Management – must be able to manage time effectively.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
Position type: Full Time
Classification: Exempt
Hours to Work: Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per day. Evenings or weekends may be required as job duties demand. On-Site Only: This role requires daily attendance at our Solana Beach headquarters.
Pay Rate: $73,000-$79,000/year

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or human resources.
May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education
