Job Position: Accounting Clerk III
Job Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD)
Summary:
The Accounting Clerk III is responsible for providing defense travel financial management and administrative support services for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Port Hueneme Division.
This includes a variety of tasks such as administrative functions, data entry, accounting processes, deficiency identification, professional and analytical support, funds management, financial tracking and reporting, responding to data calls, and ensuring the integrity of financial systems and end-user reporting.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Perform clerical duties such as answering telephones, greeting visitors, operating office equipment, and responding to inquiries regarding office procedures and policies.
- Maintain office files by managing the receipt, processing, control, and distribution of all incoming and outgoing correspondence; ensuring accurate and up-to-date filing systems; handling proper record disposal; and maintaining file integrity.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and applicable regulations.
- Resolve complex invoicing issues that arise due to unique billing requirements, project adjustments or system issues (time and expense corrections, funding modification requests, etc.) to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of invoices.
- Assist with periodic audits and reporting as required.
- Perform additional administrative, clerical, and financial support duties as assigned.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Current SECRET Security Clearance.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or financial.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Must possess basic computer literacy, data entry, and math skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to maintain professional working relationships and demeanor.
- Dependable, with strong time management skills.
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods (50% of the time) and alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Primarily office environment.
- Ability to sit for long periods and perform repetitive motion (keyboarding).
- Occasional work in hangar and flight line areas.
- Noise levels are usually moderate but may be loud near aircraft parking areas.
Compensation and Benefits:
Position type: Full Time
Classification: Non-exempt
Hours to Work: Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per day. Evenings or weekends may be required as job duties demand. Hours are subject based on the needs of the squadron.
Base Rate: $24.24 per hour
Health and Welfare Benefit: $5.09 per hour
