Job Position: Assistant Site Manager

Job Location: NAWS China Lake, Ridgecrest, CA

Summary:

The Assistant Site Manager will provide support to the Site Manager and provide administrative support services, personnel administrative support services, and travel support services. This position will perform a variety of tasks.

Task Requirements: 

  • Manage and direct staff in the performance of administrative services, mail services, correspondence preparations, and distribution.  Assist as needed in the reporting and detachment of personnel, provide data collection, manage administrative drafts for military personnel actions, military performance evaluations for squadron staff, and students.
  • Assist as needed in the reporting and detachment of personnel, provide data collection, manage administrative drafts for military personnel actions, military performance evaluations for squadron staff, and students.
  • Ensure employees greet visitors and answer questions regarding published Naval instructions, approved local procedures, and various personnel support policies including payroll, separations, and RED/DA entry support.
  • Review training and performance requirements for personnel to ensure training matches with duties performed within the PWS.
  • Ensure personnel licenses, certifications, and qualifications are maintained current, and documented.
  • Review and update travel documents for accuracy.
  • Performs duties as the primary interface with Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager, and Technical Advisor (TA), and submits weekly and monthly reports as required.
  • Fulfill office resource gaps as needed during periods of employee leave and resource deficits due to resignations or terminations as required within the site. 
  • Assist Site Manager with timesheets. 
  • Assist HR and Site Manager with recruiting.
  • Assist HR and Site Manager with onboarding new employees. 
  • Maintain documents in electronic file format.
  • Always follow safety protocols and maintains a high level of safety awareness.
  • Accountable for assigned Company Owned Property, Government Furnished Property, and Government Furnished Equipment.
  • Ensuring work is performed in accordance with published Instructions, Federal, State, and Local OSHA regulations.
  • Ensure updates to NATOP procedures, logbooks, training folders, and database systems for flight training for staff and student personnel are accurately recorded.
  • Interface as needed with other Site Manager’s to review best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Site Manager, Deputy Program Manager, and Headquarters office. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Current SECRET Clearance
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Strong attention to details and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships, professional demeanor, and attitude.
  • Must be dependable.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Knowledge of Navy correspondence and records management procedures and Navy squadron organizational structure/relationships is preferred however knowledge of correspondence and record management procedures used by Department of Defense (DoD) components other than the U.S. Navy are acceptable.
  • A minimum of three years’ (3) experience in a supervisory or managerial position in a U.S. Navy activity (US Navy E-6 or Chief leadership experience preferred) or Department of Defense (DoD) activity (acceptable) as a uniformed service member, civil servant or contractor employee performing Routine Administrative, Personnel Administrative Support Services, or Travel Administrative Support Services.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and workloads to employees.
  • Familiar with Defense Travel System

Work Environment

May be required to work in areas in or near a hangar/ flight line that may be noisy at times. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. May be required to wear personal protective equipment when in or passing thru a hazardous area.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensation and Benefits: 

Position type: Full Time

Classification: Exempt

Hours to Work: Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per day. Evenings or weekends may be required as job duties demand. Hours are subject based on the needs of the squadron. 

Pay Rate: $68,640.00 per year

Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, Life, LTD, 401(k), FSA, Paid Holidays, Sick Leave, and Vacation Education: High School Diploma or equivalent 

Requirement: Must be authorized to work in the United States 

Clearance Level: Must be able to obtain and retain a Secret Security Clearance
