Job Position: General Clerk III
Job Location: San Diego, CA (HSC-3)
Summary:
VCT is seeking a General Clerk III to support Commander, Naval Air Forces (CNAF) Squadron Administrative Support Services by providing comprehensive administrative support. This position performs a wide range of clerical and administrative functions in support of command operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance with Navy policies, and timely processing of administrative actions. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform Administrative duties such as answering telephones, greeting visitors to the office and department, operating office equipment and answering questions regarding office procedures and policies.
- Maintain office files including administering receipt, distribution processing, control and distribution of all incoming and outgoing correspondence, proper filing procedures, ensuring accurate and up-to-date files, proper record disposal, and updating/maintaining a tickler file for timely submission of recurring reports.
- Maintain and update command publications, notices, instructions, and directives periodically.
- Draft and review correspondence for completeness, grammatical and procedural correctness in accordance with Navy policies and command standards.
- Review and maintain documents for completeness prior to entering a tracking system while ensuring established guidelines are met.
- Draft and review fitness reports/evaluations, award recommendations, and briefings.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Assistant Site Manager and Site Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance or be able to obtain and retain one.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Administrative background with experience in scheduling, recordkeeping, data entry, and general office support.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Strong attention to details and organization skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Familiarity with government systems and databases is preferred.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships, professional demeanor, and attitude.
- Must be dependable.
- Strong time management skills.
- Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Primarily office environment.
- Infrequent work in hangar or flight line areas, which may be noisy.
- May be exposed to moderate environmental conditions such as heat, cold, or wind.
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment when entering hazardous areas.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive motions (e.g., keyboarding).
- Noise levels are typically moderate but may be loud near aircraft parking areas.
Compensation and Benefits
This position is union-represented and subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
- Position Type: Full-Time
- Classification: Non-Exempt
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per day. Evenings or weekends may be required based on operational needs.
- Base Rate: $22.50 per hour
- Health & Welfare: $6.00 per hour
