Job Position: Secretary II (Freedom of Information Act Practitioner)
Job Location: Naval Air Station North Island, Base, San Diego, CA
Summary:
Provide Clerical support for Commander Naval Air Forces (CNAF) Squadron Administrative Support Services.
Task Requirements:
- Perform administrative support such as answering telephones, greeting visitors to the office and department, operating office equipment and answering questions regarding office procedures and policies.
- Maintain office files including filing, retrieving data and/or documents upon request.
- Gather, input, manage, and maintain data, records and referenced materials.
- Review and redact investigations (investigations containing in depth explanations that may not be released to the public/media due to sensitivity).
- Review senstive photographs.
- Protect National Security by ensuring all information being released is not a threat.
- Collaborate with other FOIA offices throughout the entire U.S. along with Subject Matter Experts.
- Oversee commands through the West Coast and the ships in Virginia.
- Draft and review correspondence for completeness, grammatical and procedural correctness in accordance with Navy policies and command standards Gather/track data to create reports and program information.
- Gathers, compiles and reports on information relevant to Supervisors’ assignment.
- Handle senstive information.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Assistant Site Manager and Site Manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S Citizen
- Must have a SECRET Clearance
- Proficient using Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Knowledge of Navy correspondence and records management procedures and Navy squadron organizational structure/relationships is preferred however knowledge of correspondence and record management procedures used by Department of Defense (DoD) components other than the U.S. Navy are acceptable.

- Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
Position type: Full Time/Non-Exempt
Hours to Work: Monday through Friday, eight (8) hours per day. Evenings or weekends may be required as job duties demand. Hours are subject based on the needs of the squadron.
Base Rate: $23.51/hour
Under Union International Association of Machinists (IAM) District 725
